Career strategies/suggestions

Can anyone gimme suggestions on how to get started in the careers of writing, and graphic design. I'm really into animation so I figured I would get started on newgrounds making flashes....As for the writing i'm kinda the idea guy, so I guess that will come in handy in the future. The point in this is to seek advice from people that have gone through or are experiencing something relating to this. I just turned 14, so keep that in mind, as my options are somewhat limited. So, that's it, i'll just bide my time till I get a reply...later
